FDIC now protects retirement deposits to $250,000!
Congress recently increased the federal deposit insurance limit to $250,000 for the combined total of traditional and Roth IRAs, self-directed Keoghs and certain other retirement accounts. The new, higher limit was effective April 1, 2006.
The basic coverage for other deposit accounts remains at $100,000 per depositor. Remember, as before, there are several ways to qualify for more than the basic coverage. See your favorite banker at any Pioneer Bank location for more details.

Protect yourself against identity theft
If you suspect you may have been a victim of identity theft:
a) call the toll-free fraud number of any of the three major credit burueaus to place a fraud alert on your credit report: Equifax, 800-525-6285; Experian, 888-397-3742; TransUnion, 800-680-7289
(b) close any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently
(c) file a report with your local police
(d) file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.consumer.gov/idtheft or 1-888-438-4338.
Remember, safeguard your personal information, shred confidential information and never give out your account numbers or credit card numbers over the phone or internet without knowing what you are authorizing.
